| PROTRAIN 12: KARLSRUHE - BASEL |

 |  | Subtitled "Romance and modernity combined in one add one", this protrain, twelfth of the name, takes us along on one of the most attended lines dB, between the two towns of Karlsruhe and Basle, to Switzerland. Between these two towns, the train crosses large cities like Rastatt, Baden-Baden, Offenburg, or Freiburg. A branch even makes it possible to go to Kehl, starting from Appenweier, it is to say that one is not any more very far from Strasbourg. |
 |  | The romantic part is represented by the crossing of the black forest, the side modernity must undoubtedly be the aspect of the stations or the technical installations. With regard to the realization, not of surprise to be waited, it is of standard Protrain, i.e. clean and without reproach. The landscapes are worked, detailed and make control pleasant. The stations are, in general, very beautiful, the sound environment adds to realism. |
 |  | A good part of the line is in 4 tracks, with a direct route, in particular between Baden-Baden and Offenburg or a line "commuter ", allowing to stop in small stations of countryside where the dogs bark, sometimes the bells sounds, but that is not systematic. |
 |  | In short, it is the maid works except that, nowadays, the know-how of Protrain largely is equalized, if not exceeded, by routes freeware, works of creators endowed, which was not the case, at the beginning with the saga with these lines. |
 |  | The strong point of this add one is, imho, the quantity and the quality of the stock delivered with the line, one finds a large variety of trains in all kinds, with the locos of the dB, Br 101, 111, 143, 146,181, 185, 365, the ICE 1 and 3, a tramtrain, the WP 8 100 D, rather spectacular since it enables us to begin an activity downtown full, before rolling to 120 km/h on themain line. |
 |  | The only point which posed problem to me is signalisation, I acknowledge to have evil to understand the systčme., In theory, there is an continuous automatic train-running control (LZB) with a cab signal. Under these conditions, why found me of a blow to catch up with the preceding train whereas all the signals are with the green, this, on a section where speed am raised and where this train is running slowly ? Mystery ... |
 |  | As usual, the activities are many and varied (I counted 27 of them) and allow the use of the stockl in all the situations and in any season, it is more appreciable. The creation of its own activities does not pose any problem, hardest is to choose its train in the collection, all getting a soft and realistic control. |
 |  | Finaly e, here a successful add on, holding his promises, I puts it at the head of my hit-parade personnel, right in front of number 10. How much does it remain of Protrain to leave before the publication of Railsimulator? And then? It is supposed that the developers rather will be interested in this future simulator which one hopes that they will make good use because, for the moment, it is especially Protrain Perfect which occupy them. |
